Alpine Adventures was created because the founders, Emma & Signar, wanted to share their love for the mountains with other people, and enable more people to experience the grandness of the mountains without having all the necessary know-how or equipment.

With many years spent in the mountains, a strong medical background and a passion of sharing our knowledge, our goal is to create safe, fun and memorable mountain moments. Our goal is also to create and encourage mountain adventures that are considerate of the environment we operate in, and in line with the old Norwegian traditions of "sporløs ferdsel"(=low impact travel), on mountains where the crowds do not go.

We have our base camp at Rulten Lodge in the middle of the Lofoten ski eldorado, where you can enjoy comfortable accomodation, the outdoor seaside sauna, and fresh fish for dinner caught from our own dock. We are happy and proud to be able to always use the newest gear from Mammut, both for us and our guests. We speak Norwegian, Swedish, English and German.

Let us know what kind of moments you wish to experience, and we will help you create them!

Ever since childhood, Emma has always been dreaming about and planning the next adventure. Always out in the nature, but the modes have varied throughout the years: from cycling solo across the US Rocky Mountains, to paddling white water in the most remote settings, to competing in Adventure Racing in different parts of the world, and doing long ski tours across mountain ranges. As an adult, Emma discovered climbing, and in a few years she has become one of the most active female alpine climbers in Scandinavia. With lots of energy and always a big smile, Emma feels at home out in nature and on the mountain. Although adventurous at heart, safety is always a big concern of hers, and as a doctor she has developed and pursued a special interest in pre-hospital and mountain medicine. Combining profession with passion, and always bringing the guests back home safely is what drives Emma.

Signar Nilsen

MSc

As a little boy, Signar climbed on everything that came in his way. University studies brought him to Oslo, where he spent the weekends in Jotunheimen, summiting all 375 peaks over 2000 meters in two years. A few years ago, he moved back to his roots in Northern Norway to work as a lecturer at the University of Tromsø. There he has contributed to a revival of alpine climbing, with numerous first ascents and first winter ascents. Climbing has brought him to many different parts of the world, from sport climbing in Mexico and Thailand, to alpine lines and steep skiing in Chamonix, to classical mountaineering in Switzerland. Signar has a big interest in historic ascents and can vividly tell his guests many interesting stories about the mountains they visit. He is much appreciated for his cheerfulness, and as a pedagogue and coach he will motivate and help you push your own boundaries.
