The infamous Mysosten and the "10 førbittrade fingertak"
Stetind (1392 m), the famous and majestic national mountain of Norway, is a granite fortress located in Tysfjord close to Narvik in Northern Norway. It defeated many attempts from climbers before Rubenson, Schjelderup and Bryn made a historic first ascent on the 10th of August 1910. They climbed the south ridge and gained the summit via the infamous finger-tip traverse which still is graded 4+/5.5/4b. This achievement was the first in a series of remarkable first ascents done on in only one week, including Svolværgeita and Trakta in Lofoten. On our climb we will follow in their steps on our way to the summit.
Due to heavy traffic on Stetind during the summer months, we have decided to limit our visits there. The heavy traffic destroys the local vegatiation, erodes the trails, and takes away the serenity that we like to show our guests on the mountains. For a more sustainable future and in line with the old traditions of "sporløs ferdsel" that we like to follow, we have decided to limit our visit to Stetind to one tour per year up the normal route. The tour for the summer of 2021 is fully booked. If you want more climbing, a less visited peak, and more spectacular surroundings, we strongly recommend Reka.
