trakta
north ridge

Approach through the green valley. No trails and no people here

The hardest part of the climb, graded 5+

The north ridge is coming in to view on the approach

Rappeling down with the Raftsundet in the background

The view from the top is hard to beat!

Trakta see from Raftsundet on the boat approach. The left top is the highest

Lots of granite in a world that sees very fee people

A little bit of moss, but very nice jamming!

Few climbs require a boat transport, something that makes this one special, with very few people having climbed it
Trakta (980 m) is the hardest mountain in Norway to summit. First ascended in august 1910 by the legendary climbers Alf B. Bryn, Carl W. Rubenson and Ferdinand Schjelderup. They fought their way up the north ridge and managed to unlock the key sequence of the climb, a 20 m tall exposed wall which still is graded 5+ today! Our 1953 guidebook describes the climb as «delicate, severe and exposed». Stamina and climbing experience is required here as this is the real deal. Join us for an unforgettable day of bushwacking, scrambling and exposed climbing!
